Dear Members, Grüezi,

Once again, we reach that wonderful pre-Festive Season, with everyone in good spirits, the weather a tad warmer, Swiss and other European based residents and tourists flocking back into this beautiful city – in general just an overall special time to be in Cape Town.
We definitely appreciate being here, and even more so, keeping a little bit of Switzerland going for our large community of expats, ‘Schwalben’, retirees, nomads, families and everyone who someone feels connected to us and that other beautiful country we all call home.
This year we hosted wonderful annual events again, starting with Waldfest in February, then the Easter Bunny in Autumn, a Fondue Plausch, another very well attended, very special 1. August – and most recently our Samichlaus. All hosted in Jonkershoek – and always attended by a decently sized crowd, clearly showing us that our community still loves Jonkershoek and that this is still a gem worth looking after. At the same time, this is how we as the committee feel valued and we appreciate every single one of you who supports us during these events, sometimes active, and sometimes just as a visitor – or even just as a member in the background.
At this point, I also need to thank our committee for their tireless effort in keeping our club on its feet and especially to the Jonkies crew (we see you!) – many thanks for all the hard physical work and commitment! Obviously, there is no such thing as free lunch, so we also thank all our sponsors, donors and advertisers – I recommend you browse through the adverts in our newsletters – who graciously give away some of ‘theirs’ so all of us can have a little bit more for ‘us’. It goes without saying that they, and us, would appreciate if you give their products and services preference should you ever have the need!
Lastly, a bit of outlook into 2026 – which will kick off with Waldfest on 8 February 2026 and then the AGM in March/April together with the Easter Bunny. We are also closer to have regular events in town again – more to that hopefully early next year. And otherwise, we will try to do much of the same, adding some more elements for connection, fun etc. here and there…
Wishing everyone a wonderful Festive Season & ‘En Guete Rutsch’.
I look forward to seeing you all soon and as always – THANK YOU for your continuous support of our Club and your interest in the Swiss Social Community in Cape Town.
Bis bald,
Christian
